The
city West Des Moines, Iowa is planning on building a 75-foot radio tower this
fall as part of the ongoing public safety update. Construction on this tower is
expected to begin next month. The West Des Moines Planning and Zoning
Commission vetoed a proposed amendment to expand the height of the tower to
180-feet. With the tower being that tall it would be able to service multiple
private telecommunication companies and increase the network coverage in the
surrounding area.
“The
tower will be built at Public Safety Station 19, 8055 Mills Civic Parkway, to
improve dispatch services with Westcom Emergency Communications,” the Des Moines Register reported.
