On
July 31st, the Fairfax County Board of Zoning Appeals voted to deny
AT&T’s application for a permit to build a 128-foot cell tower on the
Parklawn Recreation Association. Residents have been fighting the construction
of this tower from the beginning and were relieved to hear that the board had
denied the application. The application was denied because the monopole did not
meet zoning ordinance standards.
There
is usually a one year waiting period to file another application, but the Board
of Zoning Appeals decided to waive this waiting period for AT&T so they
will be able to submit another application to build the tower elsewhere.
