Members
of the Yakima, Washington community have sought out stricter standards of cell
phone towers, which is why there is a public hearing at the Planning Commission
tonight to let both sides share their views. The telecommunications companies
believe that stricter regulations will make it difficult to install new towers at
a quick pace, which will hinder their ability to keep up with the demand for
wireless service.
Currently
the city of Yakima has very limited regulations when it comes to the
construction of cell phone towers. The residents want to restrict cell tower
standards to maintain the aesthetic appeal of the community as well as the
property values.
