Missouri Cell Tower Up For Final Approval

AT&T’s cell tower that was proposed a few weeks ago will be given final approval at the Cape Girardeau City Council meeting tonight at 7pm. AT&T wants to build a 140-foot cell phone tower at 418 William Street. Some of the residents are in opposition of the construction of this tower because they think it will damage the view of the city’s historic districts.

Erin Ragan of the Southeast Missourian reported, “Proponents of building the tower say its placement on William Street is the only location that will significantly improve cell phone service coverage for the downtown area. Opponents have questioned whether alternative technology could be used to provide better coverage, while AT&T representatives say other types would not provide the return on investment acceptable for the company.”
