New York Fire Department Proposes New Idea For Cell Tower Placement

After receiving much opposition to the plan proposed to construct a communications tower at the Quogue Fire Department, the district’s fire commissioners proposed a new plan last night. Members of the community believed that the tower would be a health hazard to both the fire department and the residents.

To appease the residents, the fire department scrapped the plan and proposed a new plan to install a solid steel pole with straight antennas and a new electronic siren behind the main firehouse. This monopole will reach a height of 100-feet. The fire district plans on paying for this new antenna and siren with its communication reserve funds and they plan to use about $185,000 to complete this project.
